岩手大学では、2012年度より、優れた研究活動等を行っている本学の女性大学院生を学長が表彰する「岩手大学優秀女性大学院生学長表彰」を行っています。
2021年度より本学長表彰の通称を「鷹觜テル賞」としました。鷹觜テル（1921～2000）は、江刺市（現・奥州市）に生まれ、岩手大学の前身のひとつ岩手師範学校女子部の教員となり、新制大学移行後に岩手大学で初の女性助教授となった研究者です。

本年度は7名の応募があり、一次審査（書類選考）を通過した4名について、最終審査会を開催しました。厳正な審査の結果、下記のとおり受賞者が決定しました。
受賞者には、学会・シンポジウム参加旅費、実験試料の購入等、調査研究に係る費用を支援します。

Iwate University President’s Award 2022 – Teru Takanohashi Award – go to four graduate students
The president of Iwate University grants awards and scholarships to the Iwate University’s female graduate students who have carried out excellent research activities for the purpose of supporting research activities of female students in graduate schools, in line with the Iwate University Plan of Actions for Gender Equality.

Named after Teru Takanohashi (1921-2000), the first female to be appointed as an assistant professor at Iwate University after the transition to the new university, the award honor her contribution to the regional project for nutrition improvement from the aspect of food science research during the pre-war and the post-war years.

This year, the Office for Gender Equality received 7 applications. Four of them managed to the final selection presented their research and future career plans. After careful consideration, we came to the conclusion on awardees as below. All winners will be given scholarship which can be used to participate in conferences and symposiums, conduct researches, and purchase materials, equipment or books for research.

Grand Prize – Mayu Sugawara (United Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Division of Science and Engineering)
Second Prize – Ono Misuzu (United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Regional Environment Creation), Wu Jieling (Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Graduate Course in Design and Media Technology), Yabin Niu (United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Regional Environment Creation)
